Jun 01 - GOD HAS NOT GIVEN UP ON YOU

“Go your way, tell His disciples and Peter that He goeth before you into Galilee: there shall ye see Him” (Mark 16:7).
These are the words the angel of the Lord spoke to the women gathered at the garden tomb on the resurrection morning. Our Lord was going to Galilee to meet His disciples. Would it not do to say, “Tell His disciples that He goeth before you into Galilee”? The words “His disciples” surely included Peter, he being one of the twelve. Why was Peter’s name particularly mentioned then? There is a possibility that, in view of the terrible mistakes he had made and the way he had denied the Lord on the crucifixion day, he thought Jesus had forsaken him and therefore the words “His disciples” did not include him any more. Knowing Peter’s predicament, Jesus made special mention of him.

Are you too, like Peter, thinking that you have grieved the Lord too deeply and that He may have forsaken you? No dear child of God, there is hope for you. “A bruised reed shall he not break, and the smoking flax shall He not quench” (Isa 42:3). Here the reed is like a broken key of a piano; it cannot produce good music. Today your life may be out of tune, like a bruised reed. Yet God has a plan for this bruised reed. A smoking flax, instead of producing light, gives out smoke – darkening and polluting the atmosphere; but the Lord will not put out a smoking flax. God has not given up on you.

This scripture is for you: “Go your way, tell His disciples and Peter [put your name here, instead of Peter] that He goeth before you.” The Lord has something to say to you. He wants to draw you to Himself again. He wants fill you with His glorious power and change you. And He has a glorious ministry for you.
