May 04 - RAISE THE BANNER OF VICTORY

“When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him” (Isa 59:19).

One marvelous ministry of the glorious Holy Spirit is stated here. When the enemy comes to attack, and that like a flood, in multitudes, it is normal for one to reinforce one’s own army to confront the enemy forces. It would be ridiculous to raise the standard (flag) when the enemy comes like a flood. Normally, the flag is hoisted only after the victory over the enemy. But spiritually, if the Holy Spirit is ruling and reigning in our lives, we do not have to fight the battle when the devil’s forces come against us for, the battle belongs to the Lord Who is enthroned in our hearts. Let us join the Lord in raising up the flag against the enemy by standing firm in faith. If God be for us, who can be against us? Just as the people of Israel shouted praises of victory before the wall of Jericho fell down, we can, through faith, shout praises even before we see the victory. “Let the high praises of God be in their mouth and a two edged sword in their hand” (Psa 149:6).

The devil is not almighty, but God is. He that is in us is greater than he that is in the world (I Jn. 4:4).

Let us live in the power of the Holy Spirit so that the banner of victory may be raised when the enemy comes like a flood.

          “Each one a one-man army, can storm through any host;

           We’re n army of overcomers.

            An army then of armies, filled with the Holy Ghost;

           We’re an army of overcomers.”
