“Seek ye out of the book of the Lord, and read: no one of these shall fail, none shall want her mate: for My mouth it hath commanded, and His spirit it hath gathered them” (Isa 34:16).
What an inspiring and encouraging verse this is! The Scriptures, the Word of God or the Bible, as we call it, was gathered together or compiled by the Spirit of God – ‘His Spirit’ (Holy Spirit). In fact, the blessed Trinity is involved in the collection of the contents of the Scriptures. ‘Lord’ is Jehovah or Father. ‘My mouth’ – here ‘My’ refers to the Lord Jesus Christ and ‘His Spirit’ refers to the Holy Spirit.
What an encouragement it is for all of us to know that the Bible, the Word of God that we hold in our hands has come from the Triune God and is complete in itself! How sad it is that some people wanted to add the Apocrypha to it! Look at the warning in the last book and in the last chapter of the Word of God. “If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: and if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book” (Rev 22:18, 19).
May the Lord grant us the grace every day, to find the wondrous things in this wonderful book given to us by the wonderful Triune God.
“Thy Word is like a deep, deep mine
And jewels rich and rare
And hidden in its mighty depths
For every searcher there.”
Open Thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of Thy law (Psa 119:18)
