Jan 10 - ATTRACTIVE NATURES

“Out of the ground made the Lord God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil” (Gen 2:9).

The tree of knowledge had nothing evil in itself, as much as there is no evil in God. It’s the disobedience of man that brought the evil effects. True knowledge is to fear God and obey Him, and the knowledge to disobey Him is evil.

God made every tree in the garden pleasant to the sight and good for food. God wants everyone in the Church to be pleasing in the sight of God and man and be a source of good spiritual food to others. Also, everyone in the Church of God should be a tree of life which is a source of eternal life to others.

It was the fruit of the trees that was pleasant to the sight and good for food. “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance” (Gal 5:22,23). These divine natures are pleasing to God and man and are a good food that satisfies the spiritual hunger of others.

The condition set for obtaining eternal life and growth in divine character, is obedience. If we disobey we will lose eternal life and we will have no place in the Church of God.
