When you are standing on your covenants, you are like Samson who did mighty deeds for his God and for the people of God. As per God’s covenant with Samson, a razor was not to touch his head. As long as Samson was steadfast in that covenant, he was a mighty man of God. But alas, because of Delilah’s influence he had to break that covenant and hence had to die a very miserable death.
The meaning of ‘Samson’ is ‘like the sun’. The sun is the Sun of Righteousness — our Jesus. We are called to be like the sun or like our Jesus, as was Samson. Delilah stands for the world or worldly pleasures. The meaning of the word ‘Delilah’ is ‘delicate’. Delicate worldly pleasures undermine the very foundation of our covenant with God. Like Samson’s end, the end of such people would be most pitiable. Let us take every care that not even a small worldly pleasure enters into our lives.
Sometimes, by the way we dress, behave, or move with others, we may give room for some cunning Delilah to creep in and make a havoc of our spiritual life. Today, find out from your personal life who or what that Delilah is, that is trying to break your covenants with your God. Destroy that Delilah right away and do away with it for ever.
