May 09 - PRAYERS OUT OF A PURE HEART

“Another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne.” (Rev 8:3,).

Although the altar, incense, etc. belong to the earthly tabernacle, this is a heavenly scene. The altar before which the angel stood may be the incense altar in the holy place. It is worth observing that everything connected with the incense altar is of pure gold. The alter was made of gold, and the incense was carried in a golden censer.

The incense altar made of pure gold represents the prayers and praises coming out of a pure (golden) heart. Every saint of God who prays from a truly pure heart is a golden censer in the sight of God. (Every child of God who is washed in the blood of Christ is called a saint – I Cor 1:2).

“The smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God” (vs 4). God has a very special regard for prayers which come out of a pure heart. INDEED, THEY ARE MOST POWERFUL – MORE POWERFUL THAN THE MOST POWERFUL EARTHLY WEAPON.

Prayer life without a pure life is like the fruitless fig tree which Jesus cursed – so many of leaves (prayers), but absolutely no fruit (holy life); it is indeed hypocrisy.
